Welcome to the Lambeth and Southwark Sexual Health Modernisation Initiative Website.
The Sexual Health Modernisation Initiative (SHMI) was developed, between 2004 and 2008, in partnership with Service Users and professionals to promote sexual health and improve sexual health services. Services Users and professionals continue to work together to achieve this.
The Sexual Health Modernisation Initiative was funded by the Guy's and St. Thomas' Charity. It involved Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts and Lambeth and Southwark Primary Care Trusts, all working with local service users to transform the services.
This website provides an overview of the achievements of the programme.
The sexual Health programme is now closed. See individual workstreams for details.
Keeping it Going: The final Sexual Health Modernisation Initiative Conference
The final Sexual Health Modernisation Initiative Conference took place on 14 November 2007. Keeping it Going was a huge success attracting over 100 delegates from across London and the UK. The conference was an opportunity to share what the Modernisation Initiative has learned over the last four years and included workshops on self management, point of care testing and a new sexual health service model piloted at Camberwell. The presentations from the conference are now available to download. Click here.
